So why do we decide to work out? what is our initial motivation and how do we keep the momentum going? Well I can start by telling you that almost everyone's initial motivation stems from external factors. We want a tighter tushy, flat abs, or those sexy toned arms. Sometimes we want to improve our physique to show our exes just what they are missing out on. Am I right? Well, whatever the reason is we have all been there. I can tell you that my motivation came from this photo right here. I had just started dating this hunky guy and we went to the beach for our first date. Things were going great until we took this photo and I saw it. I was horrified!! Posing with my backside towards the camera used to be my signature pose. So what did I do about this? I kept my cool on the date but in my mind I was already planning the changes I needed to make. The next day and every day after that for 5 days a week this droopy booty was at the gym.
But what kept me in the gym? Certainly not the "guy", because he was out of the picture a few months later and definitely not this photo because my tushy started to lift back up (praise the Lord). What kept me in the gym and what kept me on a healthy diet was how I started to feel. I also wasn't the newbie in the weight room anymore. I knew exactly what I was doing because I had spent time watching youtubevideos of how to properly execute exercises and I went in with specific workout plans. I also started following fitness gurus that shared their workouts for free. Which was great because it's somewhere to start.
With time I grew stronger, more confident, and had so much more natural energy. I started to really love this new me! I mean I loved the me before, but this me was different. It was like the Stephanie 2.0 version!
What's funny about this lifestyle is that when you start to live it for a few weeks or more and then happen to have a weak moment and revert back to your old bad eating habits or inactive regime, you start to feel sick. You can tell that things in your body aren't working the way they are supposed to.
So I encourage you to find your initial motivation and stick with it for a month or two, and I guarantee you will start to build those internal motives that will keep you in the game for years to come. The external benefits like a tight little fitness hoteey booty will just be icing on the cake! I promise!
